It’s wonderful to see how the [community profile] tarot community has grown over the past week! I considered keeping the Color-Your-Own Tarot Card Project Community Survey open a little bit longer so that new members would have the chance to participate but in the end, decided to close the poll (as scheduled) so that we might go ahead and start things rolling!

My thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in the poll! Just a quick overview of the results:

Almost a quarter (23%) of the Tarot community participated in the poll, nine members indicating interest in participating in the project.

Both the use of the Rider-Waite-Smith Major Arcana line art and the Fool card was unanimously approved. The majority of the voters (67%) indicated a desire to color three or more cards of the Major Arcana. The widest (almost even) spread of votes was obtained when asked about the time needed to complete the project (one week = 4 votes, two weeks = 2 votes and one month = 3 votes).

In light of these results, I would like to propose the following:

Beginning by Wednesday, May 13 (or earlier but that’s when I’ll post the more “official” notice), everyone/anyone who would like to participate in the project may begin by downloading the line art of the Fool card from here and color away!

So that everyone has a chance to experiment with mediums and colors, let’s take a week and post our results (as comments to the “announcement” post) on Wednesday, May 20. As well as your work, it would be very nice if everyone might also share a little bit about their experience: why they choose the colors and medium they used and any insights they experienced.

Then, if the first round doesn’t scare everyone away, I’ll post a signup list for the rest of the line art for the Major Arcana so that everyone has the chance to select their favorites! Hopefully we’ll produce a complete set of cards over the next month (or so).

As we’re still a minority of the [community profile] tarot community, I think that it might be better to comment only to the project announcement posts to avoid overloading our fellow member’s reading pages. And as always, please let me know if you have any questions or comments or suggestions about the project (or just say “hi” – that works for me too)!

Thanks again! I’m really looking forward to trying my hand at coloring the Fool! Still not sure what medium I’m going to try but I’m sure that I’ll find the journey along the way an enlightening one!
