I haven't been participating as much as I intended to here since spring -- maybe I can remedy that!
I share something that happened to me the other day, because it was so much fun. It involves being surprised by the Eight of Cups.
I own about a half dozen decks but for the readings I do for myself I always come back to the classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck.
I noticed that using my favorite numerology method, next year will be a Strength year for me. So I was reading about that in a book I have, and kind of dawdling along, turning over cards, and my eye fell on the Eight of Cups, and BAM -- it was one of those odd moments of total clarity: This card is what I am about right now, all that stuff about change of focus, shifting perspectives, even the mood and flavor of the spooky isolation of the card was on target.
It was especially fun because I wasn't doing a reading. I was just vaguely reading up, thinking ahead, getting ready for New Year's Resolutions (which kind of happen for me in that vague mushy space that includes the Solstice, Christmas and New Year's Day) and pondering my current mental and spiritual state.
That was the card I needed, the guidance and perspective I needed. I love that!
The cards are old friends now, but when I least expect it they surprise me.
Has this sort of thing happened to you?
